Oh How We Love Story Time

My husband (who shall remain anonymous for professional reasons but you all know who he is) has a wonderful mother who is a children's librarian at Paoli Library. Major score for us:) Fall story time has just begun so today we braved the PA Turnpike and headed out for quite an adventure.

Grace passed out about 5 minutes into the ride. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing I wouldn't hear screeching for 45 minutes and hoping she'd wake up in a charming mood. We got there just in time and Grace was so happy to see her mom mom. Sometimes she's ambivalent with people (even me and her dad) so it's a relief when she responds so happily to people who know and love her.

How exactly does story time work with a room of under 2 kids? Pretty much like you'd expect. Luke was a bit pushy and not terribly interested in sharing. Caroline reclined on her mom and was the picture of a well-behaved child. Louise listened attentively and Grace, well she likes to do her own thing. We sang songs, danced, sometimes listened (especially to the "purple book"). We made a peace dove-- the theme was peace for the upcoming 9/11 anniversary. Well, I made a peace dove on Grace's behalf-- no scissors just yet.

Then we had a fantastic lunch at this great Chinese place. Grace was sooooo well behaved. Grace fell asleep for a half hour on the way home and spent the rest of the afternoon exhausted. Thank goodness we got a visit from our neighbors which helped us to get through the day. Grace's friend (Ben) is 18 months old and it's crazy to see what she's going to be capable of in just a short time. I can't wait to hear our first "tank you."
